Modern and Comfortable Seating Options for Your Living Room

Have you lately found yourself looking at your living room space and thinking that you’d like to do a bit of remodeling, but you’re not exactly sure what you want to change? You like the colors of your walls. You enjoy your hardwood (or carpeted or tile) floors. And it took you forever to find the perfect lighting so you definitely don’t want to change that. Still, you know what something needs to be updated.

If that’s the case, have you ever considered the seats that you have?

If it’s been years since you’ve gotten a new couch or the lounge chair in the corner looks like it’s seen much better days, then this is the right article for you because we’re going to share some modern and comfortable seating options what will be ideal for just about any kind of living room below.

Ottomons. Something that continues to be a favorite among interior designs are ottomons. That’s because they double-up as a place to sit and also a convenient storage unit too. Yet, one of the best things about them is that you can get ottomons for a really great price at stores like Target. (That way, you can purchase a few of them!)

Poufs. One seat that looks a lot like a round ottoman is a pouf. As a matter of fact, the only thing that makes it different is that you can’t use it for storage because it’s usually stuffed with cotton batting. Although they are only large enough for one person to sit on, the ones that are knitted are really cute and quite unique in appearance.

Love seat. A particular kind of seat that’s making its way back to a lot of living rooms is the love seat; you know, the couch that basically only has enough room for two. It is ideal if you have a limited amount of space or if you’re looking for something to fill up a corner somewhere in your living room.

Floor cushions. If your living room has a bit of an African theme or Moroccan style, something else to think about are floor cushions. They come in all kinds of fabrics and colors and they have a really great way of adding a bit of “pop” to any space.

Stools. Are you looking for a couple of matching seating options to place on both sides of your mantle? How about a couple of stools? They’re nice to have at times when you may end up with a few more guests for a dinner or a party than you planned. Plus, you can find a great selection at just about any furniture store.

Backless daybed. Perhaps one of the most creative ideas is to purchase a backless daybed. The reason why this is such a cool option is because while it looks like a long seat, if you have some visitors staying with you overnight, all you have to do is put some sheets over it and now you have a bed.

Couch. OK, sure the couch isn’t exactly a modern idea, but it’s definitely a comfortable suggestion. However, what you can do to “upgrade” yours a bit is to reupholster it with a fresh neutral fabric and then accent it with some oversized throw pillows that have some really distinctive patterns (preferably ones that coordinate rather than match). By just doing those two things, you now have a couch that looks like new.
